We had a fun pioneer experience here on Pioneer Day! First of all, this is located on a very scenic piece of land that was so pretty! Bison were roaming down the hill and were neat to see. Then, there were old pioneer homes (a real one and a couple replicas) with pioneer-dressed hosts sharing their knowledge. We saw animal hides, a real teepee, and played pioneer games! I loved giving my kids a taste of real pioneer life. We ran out of time but there was also digging for gold and some other activities. There was something for everyone in the cool gift shop inside the main building! The candy display itself was something to see. Thanks AWHC for making our Pioneer Day so neat.

Great experience! We loved the train ride, the tomahawk throwing, and the pont rides. Volunteers were knowledgeable and gave great information.

This is a great Christmas tradition. The American West Heritage Center has a fun horse drawn wagon ride that takes you to a small village. There you get hot chocolate that you get to pick fun toppings for. They also have a sledding hill that you can enjoy if you bring your own sleds. Note to management, in the future I recommend before it snows that you plow the area to smooth it out and get rid of all the rocks, weeds, rough areas and cow poo. It was so rough that our inner tube got ripped and if you ride a sled it’s beyond bumpy and quite painful.
